You may have heard of laser dentistry before, but do you really know what it’s all about? It’s not always as simple as it sounds. (And to be reasonable, it doesn’t sound simple.) Here are a few illustrations of treatments that can be augmented by lasers. (This post is for informative purposes only; our office might not do all of these laser treatments in-house.)
(Dental lasers are usually found in one of two varieties: soft tissue lasers for working with gums and hard tissue lasers for working with teeth.)
Relieving discomfort from cold sores. Cold sores are no fun, in particular for those of us who seem disposed to them nearly continually. By using oral lasers, we can treat cold sores by enhancing the speediness of recovery time and lessening their painful effects.
Removal of benign tumors. Tumors can form on the soft tissues of your oral cavity, and if those tumors are benign, we can eliminate them from your mouth using lasers.
Smile forming. A few people might find that the appearance of their gum tissue outshines their chompers during smiles. (This is sometimes known as “gummy smile.”) We can use dental lasers to shape your gums in a way that enhances the appearance of your smile.
Teeth whitening. Many stains are just too tricky to get out without the help of an oral professional. Oral lasers can also be utilized as a part of teeth whitening.
